There's a little dog behind all of this
Hannah Banana was tiny, sassy, and absolutely convinced that the world revolved around her.
She was a senior rescue, my heart dog, and the inspiration behind Sassy Banana.
She reminded me that the things we love don't have to be perfect to be meaningful. Sometimes the scrappy, quirky, unexpected things become the ones we treasure most.
And that's a little bit of what I want Sassy Banana to be.
A celebration of personality, individuality, and finding joy in the things that make you you.
Hi, I'm Christine!
I've always loved animals, and I've always been a maker.
For as long as I can remember, I've loved creating things with my hands—taking an idea, a little inspiration, and some materials and turning them into something useful, beautiful, and completely its own.
Animals have always been just as big a part of my life. Their personalities, their quirks, and the unconditional joy they bring have shaped so much of who I am—and ultimately became part of the heart behind Sassy Banana.
I started making bags because it brings those two loves together: creating something with my own hands and celebrating the things that make us—and our animals—unique.
Why handmade?
I want Sassy Banana to feel like you've discovered something special.
A fabric that makes you stop scrolling.
A print that makes you smile.
A bag that makes someone ask, “Where did you get that?”
Something practical that still feels completely you.
That's why I love working with fabrics that have personality and creating bags in small batches. Some prints become longtime favorites. Others make a limited appearance and then disappear when the fabric is gone.
Every Sassy Banana bag is made one at a time, right here in Washington.
I cut it. I sew it. I assemble it. I inspect it. I pack it.
From a piece of fabric to something you'll carry with you—that's the magic of handmade.
We believe
There is no "normal."
Practical can still be fun.
Your bag should have personality.
Old dogs deserve new adventures.
Handmade is worth waiting for.
You don't have to blend in.
And a little sass never hurt anyone.
We're glad you're here.
Thanks for stopping by, getting to know the story behind Sassy Banana, and supporting a little handmade business with a big love for animals.
Now go find something that makes you smile.
